Studio Jux’s European storefront is stamped with the slogan ‘Guilt-Free Goods’; the brand markets itself heavily on its employment of Nepali garment factory workers. But during our visits to the garment factory in Kathmandu, it was reported that workers were paid only 7,200 rupees per month – less than the retail price of one garment and less than minimum wage. It begs the question: how fair is fair trade?
